Compare Translations is verse-based. If you want to read two different passages next to each other, use Compare Passages instead. The two features are separate and open from different places.
Open Compare Translations
1
Open a verse
In the Bible Reader, tap a verse to open the verse study panel.
2
Tap Compare
Tap Compare in the panel’s action row. The comparison replaces the panel content for the verse you opened.
Which verse is compared
The comparison always follows the verse whose study panel you opened. There is no separate verse picker inside the comparison. To compare a different verse, close the comparison, open the verse you want, and tap Compare again.Which translations appear
Every translation available on your device is listed, and the comparison is not limited to your active reading translation.
A licensed translation you own but have not downloaded on the current device has no text to show, so it is left out rather than listed empty.
Verses that are missing or numbered differently
Translations do not always number verses the same way, and some verses are absent from a given translation entirely. When a verse cannot be resolved in one of the listed translations, that translation shows an explanatory message instead of text. The message distinguishes a likely versification difference from a verse that is simply unavailable.A message in one translation’s row is expected behavior, not a failure. Translations legitimately differ in verse numbering, particularly in the Psalms and the prophets.
What QA should expect
- Opening Compare always compares the verse the study panel was opened on.
- Changing your active reading translation does not change which verse is compared.
- A licensed translation that is owned but not installed on the device is absent from the list.
- A verse missing in one translation shows a message in that row while the other rows still render.
